Diabetes Education Program
The USMD | MCNT Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program is a specialized program designed to help you understand how diabetes can affect your overall health. Our physicians want you to learn how to conservatively manage the disease more effectively to reduce your risk of complications.
Currently, there are more than 18.2 million Americans with diabetes. This disease kills more people than AIDS and breast cancer combined and is the 5th leading cause of death by disease in the United States. However, with proper education and active participation, Diabetes is a manageable disease that will allow you to live life to the fullest.
The USMD | MCNT Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program is recognized by the ADA and is structured to help you learn how to manage your diabetes, reduce weight and decrease your risk of health complications.
The Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program consists of:
- One hour personally designed assessment by a Certified Diabetes Educator
- One hour of meal planning by a Certified Diabetes Educator
- Eight hours of classroom training
- One hour follow-up class
