Rheumatology

For me, the most rewarding part of being a physician is meeting new people and working closely with them to solve their medical issues.

About Me

I was born and raised in the southern part of India in a city known for its pearls and delicious food—Hyderabad. From a very young age, I wanted to be involved in helping people and making a difference in their lives. I lost both my grandparents to preventable diseases, and that had a big effect on my decision to pursue a career in medicine. Seeing what they went through made me want to help people become better informed about different medical conditions.

I earned my medical degree from Osmania Medical College in India, and came to the United States to complete my internship and residency in internal medicine at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Because of my interest in immunology and clinically challenging diseases, I decided to focus on rheumatologyand completed a fellowship in the specialty at Medstar Georgetown University Medical Center/Washington Hospital Center. It’s an exciting time for the field of rheumatology. There is a lot of emerging research and new therapies being introduced to help people who suffer from autoimmune diseases. My special interests include vasculitis, lupus and sarcoidosis. I’m honor to be a part of this profession and strive to do as much as I can to help people be healthier and enjoy a better quality of life.

For me, the most rewarding part of being a physician is meeting new people and working closely with them to solve their medical issues. The ability to help someone affected by a deforming disease and make a real difference in their life is what inspires me. I like to work closely with my patients and encourage them to take an active role in decisions about their care. I firmly believe that environmental and dietary factors play a major role in triggering autoimmune diseases, so I also encourage them to incorporate important lifestyle modifications to complement their medical care.

I am engaged to an orthopedic surgeon who happens to love fixing kids’ spines—and we’re happy to be in North Texas and look forward to caring for the members of this community. When I’m not seeing patients, I enjoy cooking, traveling and gardening.
