About Me

I became a doctor because, at the end of the day, it is about helping people. I get satisfaction in knowing that someone is healthier or feels better because of my help.  I chose to be a rheumatologist because of the interesting and challenging nature of the different conditions in the field.

I was born in India, raised by my grandmother, and in high school joined my parents who were already living in Michigan.  Looking back, I am glad I grew up in diverse cultures as it gave me a broader perspective on life from a young age.  I did undergraduate and went to medical school in Detroit.  I moved to Texas to do fellowship in Rheumatology.

Because of my genuine curiosity in life sciences, I was adamant about getting basic science research experience.  I worked in Michigan Cancer Center during undergraduate years.  With great mentors I got the opportunity to work on cells involved in the immune process and published an article about dendritic cells.

I love to paint and try to spend time outdoors as much as I can.

I have two little girls who teach me everyday to live life to the fullest and to live in the moment.  Of course, my dog makes me enjoy every season and tries to keep me in shape.
