Internal Medicine

The great thing about internal medicine is you remain the patient's physician for a good part of their life and often take care of most of the family.

About Me

I always knew that I would be a physician. My dad practiced internal medicine and there was no thought of anything else. I was born in Waxahachie and raised in Dallas. I graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1975 and completed my residency in internal medicine at Austin Breckenridge Hospital in 1978. I began my practice in Dallas in 1978, and, in 2004, my group joined Medical Clinic of North Texas (MCNT), a predominantly primary care healthcare group comprised of 135 providers. In 2006, I became president of MCNT and served in that capacity until the 2012 merger that created USMD Health System. I now serve as chief executive officer and chief physician officer of USMD.

My other interests include travel and tropical medicine. I will continue to run until I need knee replacements, but Judo was always my favorite sport. I have three children and three grandchildren.
