We now have the ability to identify major medical problems like heart disease and diabetes before they become serious
Paul Sanders, M.D. is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
I was born in Tyler, Texas and lived there until age 18 when I left for college.
I did research in Allergy and Immunology, mainly involving asthma and lung mediators, at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and at Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore. Two papers were published from this work.
My interest in immunology has led to study of vaccine medicine and vaccines to prevent disease during international travel. Travel medicine has become a large part of my medical practice and my partner and I provide comprehensive travel medicine for business and recreational travelers.
More recently my focus has been on heart disease and stroke prevention. Heart attacks and strokes are the two most frequent causes of death and disability in the US. Blood test and new imaging procedures now make it possible to identify these diseases early and effective medicines are available to prevent their development or greatly delay complications.
Outside of work, I spend time helping and supporting educational programs in Mendenhall, Mississippi through the Mendenhall Ministries, planning and participating in medical missions to Kenya and enjoying time with my family.
Cheryl and I have two sons. One is a landscape architect and the other is a Chaplain in the US Army.
