There are better things ahead than any we leave behind. - C.S. Lewis
Jane A. Counts, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
I am forever intrigued by the human spirit and its ability to persevere in times of trouble. I became a Psychotherapist because I wanted to companion people through life change: It is the most constantly dependable, frightening, experience of our lives.
I was born and raised in Lubbock, Midland, and El Paso, Texas. I attended Texas Tech University for my Bachelor of Arts Degree, and The University of Texas at Austin for my Master of Science Degree in 1992. I earned my Doctorate in Human Behavior from Newport University in 2000. After a teaching career at Texas Tech University School of Medicine I came to Fort Worth to begin private practice Psychotherapy -- where two of my favorite MCNT physicians recruited me to practice here. I love it in Fort Worth! The people I work with are amazing.
I treasure spending time with my dogs. They love to walk me. I love riding and working with horses but my daughter, Kinsey, is the real equestrian in the family. I have a variety of small animals that have shown up at my doorstep over the years. I have a special affinity for Chinese Crested Dogs [Rescue] and APHA Horses [Paint Horses]. I enjoy cooking, eating great food, traveling, and meeting new people. Reading, writing, and painting [art] are my other passions; however, friends and family are what life is all about and I love spending time with them. My faith and family is central in my life. I care deeply about my patients and their experiences in life.
I am currently writing a book about my bariatric weight loss journey: Redefining Life
I live and work in Fort Worth.
