About Me

Being a physician allows me to interact with people from all socioeconomic, religious, ethnic and racial backgrounds which teaches me cultural diversity. This provides a constant learning environment outside of my normal realm of general surgery and assists me in dealing with the emotional toil that surgery sometimes places on a patient and their family.

I chose to become a doctor initially because of my family association with medicine. I became fascinated with the science of anatomy and physiology. I have always enjoyed one on one interactions and find people interesting. Combining my passion for science and social skills,  surgical medicine was a natural.

I was born in Fort Worth, Texas. I attended parochial school and my experience with the Sisters of Saint Mary's set me on a path of learning and discipline. I attended public high school and eventually graduated from TCU. I graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and moved to Dallas for my general surgery residency at St. Paul Hospital (now part of UT Southwestern Medical School). I moved to Fort Worth into private practice with my father (also a general surgeon) and have been here ever since.

I spend time away from work reading mostly historical or biographical books. I also enjoy watching competitive sports like football and basketball. I also love playing golf. I really enjoy a Sunday evening with family.
