About Me

When I was a little girl growing up in Laredo, Texas, my grandfather was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Watching the strength of my family during that difficult time really inspired me, and I knew I wanted to have a career in medicine. I didn’t know to what extent my involvement would be until I went to college at Texas A&M and began volunteering. Through volunteering, I truly learned the importance of empowering patients about their health and realized the impact I could have helping empower them.

During medical school at the University Texas Southwestern Medical Center, I began to hone in on obstetrics and gynecology. My residency at Parkland Hospital really reinforced why I became a physician. As simple as it sounds, I love helping people. Helping a woman through one of the most special times in her life gives me such joy—especially seeing the look on her face the first time she holds her baby.  It’s such a bonding experience, and I really strive to build lifelong relationships with my patients and their families.

One of the biggest compliments I ever received was when a patient told me I made her feel at ease during our visit. That meant so much to me because I want the women who come to me to feel comfortable speaking to me about their health—whether they want to talk with me in English or Spanish (my first language)! Working together, we can come up with a plan to address their individual needs and goals.

When I’m not with patients, I love visiting my family in Laredo. My parents still live in the same house they brought me home to after I was born. At home in Dallas, I enjoy spending time with friends, spin class, board games and traveling. Most of all, I appreciate caring for the women who entrust me to help them enjoy a healthy life.
