Dietitian & Certified Diabetic Educator

A Certified Diabetes Educator is a health care professional who has specialized education and training to help people with diabetes achieve the best health possible. They work closely with the physician and patient to individualize the diabetes self-management plan. Incorporated into the plan are nutritional management, activity, blood glucose monitoring, goal setting and continued monitoring to reduce the risk of long term complications associated with diabetes.

Registered Dietitians (RDs)

Registered Dietitians have completed academic and experience requirements established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), ADA credentialing agency, including a minimum of a bachelor's degree from accredited college/university, and an accredited pre-professional experience program. Some Rregistered Dieticians additional certifications in specialized areas of practice.


Physician Assistant (PA-C)

A Physician Assistant (PA-C) is a health professional licensed by the state of Texas to practice medicine as delegated and supervised by the physicians. Their education entails a minimum of a bachelor's degree with specialized and concentrated training in the field with 4 years of experience. Many today have the equivalent of a master's degree.

PA's provide as broad range of medical and surgical services that traditionally were preformed only by a doctor. They are an integral part of the health care team. They diagnosis and treat illnesses. As part of their responsibilities they perform physical exams, diagnosis illnesses, develop and carry out treatment plans, order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests, structure lacerations, and provide patient education. They can write virtually any prescription.


Nurse Practitioner

A Nurse Practitioner is a health professional licensed by the state of Texas to practice medicine in collaboration of a physician. They are Registered Nurses who have advanced training and education in their field of specialty. Most have passed national certification and have a master's degree.

NP's provide as broad range of medical and surgical services that traditionally were preformed only by a doctor. They are an integral part of the health care team. They diagnosis and treat illnesses.
