JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position:  Receptionist                                                   Classification:  Full Time/Hourly

 

Reports To:  Site Manager                                                        Revised: 4-2007

JOB SUMMARY:     Facilitates patient check-in process, including the collection of payments. When necessary, responsible for appointment scheduling. Verifies and updates patient information.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  2. Obtains and verifies eligibility and insurance coverage, including referrals if required.
  3. Maintains new patient chart components.
  4. Answers telephone, takes non-emergent messages, assists callers with information.
  5. Verifies sign-in to appointment schedule.
  6. Generates care-slips for all sign-ins for lab, injections, and work-ins.
  7. Maintains work area and lobby and observes patient flow.
  8. Assists in scheduling appointments, when needed.
  9. Participates in educational activities.
  10. Attends site meetings as required.
  11. Resolves site requests as assigned.
  12. Represents Clinic in a professional manner. Treats all customers, internal and external

      in a courteous and cooperative manner.

  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the site manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  High school diploma or equivalent, and one year previous medical office experience.

2.  General office skills and computer knowledge.

3.  Knowledge of medical terminology.

4.  Effective communication skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

5.  Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate a customer service attitude.

 

INTERACTIONS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:

All levels of employees at the site and at the corporate level.  General public and heavy patient contact. Normal office environment.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires ability to handle cash and to count money at high volumes.  Requires sitting for long periods of time.  Some bending and stretching required.  Working under stress and use of telephone required.  Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer
