JOB DESCRIPTION

           

Position:  Customer Service Representative                     Classification:  Full Time/Hourly

 

 

Reports To:  Manager of Payments and Collections         Location:  Central Business Office

                                                                                                                                                           

 

JOB SUMMARY:      Assists patients with their accounts and refers to the appropriate CBO staff as needed.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.        Assists patients with questions regarding their accounts and determines if the patient needs to be transferred to a Specialist or Collector. 

2.        Researches patient concerns and follows-up with patients regarding the final status of their account.

3.        Works with Site Manager or Specialist to resolve patient issues.

4.        Responds to patient requests by mail and forwards any questions or Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s) to the correct department.

5.        Works with account holders to establish payment plans.

6.        Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.                    High school diploma or equivalent.

2.                    One to two years previous medical office experience.

2.                    General office skills and computer knowledge.

3.                    Knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of insurance claims process.

4.                    Effective communication skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

5.                    Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate a customer service attitude.

 

INTERACTIONS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:

All levels of employees at the site and at the corporate level.  Heavy patient contact.  Normal office environment.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stretching, and lightweight lifting (up to 50 pounds).  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate verbal and written reports.  Ability to manage time and stress efficiently.  Ability to drive from site to site.
